~~Luke Bryan's "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)," Jake Owen's "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" and Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party" are featured on "Now That's What I Call a Country Party", an all-star compilation set for release on May 7. The collection also includes Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup," Kenny Chesney's "Beer in Mexico," Brad Paisley's "Alcohol," Alan Jackson's "It's Five O' Clock Somewhere" and other songs by Brantley Gilbert, Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts and George Strait, among others.
~~Scotty McCreery has donated $18,000 to Nashville's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities. McCreery threw the first pitch during RBI's Opening Day festivities at Seven Oaks Park, where more than 250 kids were in attendance.
~~ "Downtown" has become Lady Antebellum's fastest-charting single to date. The song tops both the Billboard and Mediabase country singles charts-- is the superstar trio's seventh career No. 1-- and is already certified gold, selling more than half a million downloads.
"Downtown" is the first single released from Lady A's Golden album, due in stores May 7. "
~~Gary Allan, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow and Dustin Lynch are scheduled to attend the 14th annual Nashville Best Cellars dinner set for April 29 at the Bridge Building in Nashville. Amy Grant and Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain are also expected to attend the wine and food celebration benefiting the T.J. Martell Foundation and its funding of cancer research at the Frances Williams Preston Labs at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. Since its inception in 1999, the event has raised more than $1.65 million to support the foundation's mission of funding leukemia, cancer and AIDS research.
An after-party will feature performances by artists Brett Eldredge and Charlie Worsham.
~~Vince Gill and Keith Urban joined Eric Clapton for the Crossroads Guitar Festival this (past) weekend at New York's Madison Square Garden.
On Friday, Vince performed with fellow guitarist Andy Fairweather Low and Eric Clapton on the monster hits "Lay Down Sally" and "Wonderful Tonight."
On Saturday, Vince and his band, along with Keith Urban and guitar icon Albert Lee, performed "Ain't Living Long Like This," "Leave My Woman Alone," the Rolling Stones classic "Tumbling Dice" and Eric's "Set Me Up."
The event served as a benefit for Eric Clapton's Crossroads Center—a drug treatment facility in Antigua.
~~Sarah Darling is engaged to marry boyfriend James Muriel. He proposed during a romantic vacation in Key West, Fla. over the weekend.
The "Home to Me" singer and British graphic design executive met a few years ago through his father who "was an aspiring songwriter and had been traveling to Nashville, back and forth from London." He asked Sarah to sing on a demo.
~~"The Music Of Nashville (Season I, Volume 2)" will be released May 7 on Big Machine Records. The project features new music from Connie Britton (Rayna Jaymes), Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes), Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne), Jonathan Jackson (Avery Barkley), Clare Bowen (Scarlett O'Connor), Sam Palladio (Gunnar Scott) and sisters Lennon and Maisy Stella, (Maddie & Daphne Conrad) – who perform in each episode weekly.
Award-winning producers T Bone Burnett, Buddy Miller, Gabriel Witcher, Garth Fundis, Frank Liddell, Dan Auerbach, and Ross Copperman worked together to showcase the original content on both the show and soundtrack, respectively.
Target will simultaneously release an exclusive version of the soundtrack that will include five additional bonus tracks.
~~ Amanda Watkins and Kasey Buckley have ended their duo Miss Willie Brown.
Watkins writes: "We have decided to part ways as a band to pursue our separate dreams. With Kaseys and your support, I will be continuing my career in music as Amanda Watkins and carrying on the heart and soul on which Miss Willie Brown was built."
~~ Lonestar have announced the release of a new album, ‘Life as We Know It,' on June 4. The new project is the group's first since lead singer Richie McDonald returned to the band after an absence of four years.
Lonestar will perform at the upcoming Stagecoach Festival before kicking on a major national tour, with dates to be announced soon.
