COUNTRY QUICKIES: 4/23/13
~~Kenny Chesney visited "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Monday and downed several shots of rum. He also performed his current single, "Pirate Flag."
~~ The Zac Brown Band will host its Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in downtown Nashville on Sept. 27-28. Confirmed guests include Kenny Chesney, Kacey Musgraves and Willie Nelson, as well as John Fogerty, the Head and the Heart, Jason Mraz, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue.
Tickets will be available to the public on Saturday (April 27).
~~The 2013 Billboard Music Awards Nominees were announced, and Taylor Swift tied with Maroon 5 for the most noms-- eleven!
Jason Aldean earned three noms and is a finalist in the Top Male Artist category, the only country singer aside from Swift to be recognized in an all-genre category.
Luke Bryan scored three nominations as well. Carrie Underwood and Hunter Hayes received two nominations, and Florida Georgia Line and Eric Church landed one in the Top Country Song category.
The 2013 Billboard Music Awards air on ABC at 8PM ET on May 19. This year's show is from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
~~ Toby Keith is heading out on another USO tour this month, performing shows on military bases in the Philippines, Guam, and four free shows in Hawaii.
Toby is set to tour for 10 days beginning April 27.
In the past 10 years, he has played more than 200 USO shows.
After Toby finishes up the USO tour, he'll have a month off from touring before diving into his 2013 Hammer Down Tour, with Kip Moore, will join him on the road.
~~Martina McBride has joined the Women's Survivor's Alliance to salute women who have survived cancer with a special performance at the Grand Ole Opry on Aug. 24. The show is part of the National Women's Survivors Convention being held in Nashville that weekend. Music City will welcome female survivors of all types of cancers for the three-day event.
Last year, Martina was brought onto the stage by Good Morning America host and cancer survivor Robin Roberts for a performance of "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" on the annual "Opry Goes Pink" show.
~~ Jewel will perform in a live webcast concert series from the Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, on May 1 at 9:00 PM ET at CBS.com. The performance will feature songs from the singer-songwriter's recent Greatest Hits album, such as "Two Hearts Breaking," a new track from the disc.
