We Spend More On Mother’s Day Than Father’s Day

Father’s Day was Sunday and while most people are bound to be celebrating dear old dad this weekend, he likely won’t be getting quite the same love as mom did on Mother’s Day.

A new LendingTree survey finds:

  • The average person will spend $190 on dad this Father’s Day, much less than the $219 the average person spent on mom for Mother’s Day.
  • Millennials though will spend much more on dad, on average $403, but that’s still less than the $432 they spent on mom.

But the truth is, most dads don’t really want you to spend money on them.

  • When asked what they want for Father’s Day, many of the desired gifts don’t cost money.
  • In fact, the top choice is to spend quality time with family, something 58% of dads want.
  • Other gifts dads want for Father’s Day include:
    • A special dinner (26%)
    • A thoughtful card (18%)
    • Nothing that costs money (16%)
    • Peace & quiet/time to myself (13%)
    • Something handmade (9%)
    • Tech-related gadget (9%)
    • My chores done for m (8%)
    • Sports-related merchandise (7%)
    • Sports-related outing (7%)
    • A practical gift like a tie or mug (5%)
