First in Northern New Mexico to Host Drone Show in Lieu of Holiday Fireworks
ANGEL FIRE, NM – (June 19, 2023) – Angel Fire Resort (https://www.angelfireresort.com), located in the Rocky Mountains of northern New Mexico, is preparing for an expanded Fourth of July week of activities, celebrating the country's Independence holiday. Along with a live outdoor concert, lakeside party, pancake breakfast, and several other events, the resort's latest addition this year is northern New Mexico's first-ever drone light show instead of traditional fireworks. Drone light shows are performed by illuminated, synchronized, and choreographed groups of drones that arrange themselves into various aerial formations.
A year ago, Moreno Valley was battling the Calf Canyon/Hermit's Peak blaze, which burned over 340,000 acres, making it one of the largest wildfires in New Mexico's history. Although the area has received one of the wettest springs on record, the resort and the Village of Angel Fire decided to schedule the drone show months ago to provide a safer celebration display.
"The live drone shows are growing in popularity in drier climates. What once was Fourth of July fireworks displays are now being replaced by large swarms of small drones with colored lights," Ralph explains. "It reduces wildfire risk, pollution, and loud noises. We're excited to add it to our list of activities for the holiday."
The year-round resort offers golf, mountain biking, chair lift rides, hiking, fishing, ziplining tours, and disc golf at the summit. They've also created a week of additional activities starting Friday, June 30.

The Village of Angel Fire, in coordination with the Overland Project, will host a Skate Festival on July 3 & 4 at Plaza Del Sol (behind the Fire Station). There will be professional skaters to give demonstrations and stage competitions. Much of the day will be free classes for kids who want to learn to skate; bring your own helmet.
