The social media platform X is seeing a massive user exodus. One day after the presidential election, over 115-thousand users deactivated their account, the biggest loss in users since Elon Musk bought the platform in 2022. X is not releasing those numbers, but other services are. Meanwhile, alternative text-based social media apps are reporting an influx of users. Over one million people joined Bluesky in the past week bringing the count up to 15 million, and Meta’s Thread's has announced they've exceeded 275-million active users. Here’s another reason that X will be losing users: X's new terms of service explicitly say all users agree to let their posts be used to train artificial intelligence. Currently, users can go to the site's settings and opt-out, but starting on Friday it will be mandatory.
