“The New York Times” is starting out the New Year with a new two-player word game that’s all about friendly competition and playing together.
The game, Crossplay, has players taking turns building words off each other to score points, and it will launch with its own dedicated app alongside popular NYT games like Wordle and Connections.
Crossplay is already being tested in select markets like Canada and New Zealand, with a U.S. release set for January 21st. You can pre-register now.
The game has been in development for about three years and joins a massive puzzle lineup that saw more than 11-billion games solved in 2025.
