And here is some cool news… AMC Theatres is bringing back Burt Reynolds’ 1977 hit comedy Smokey and The Bandit. The movie will play starting Wednesday at 240 AMC locations as a tribute. Tickets will be $5, or lower, depending on the theatre. It will be shown here at the AMC Theatre at Coors and Rio Bravo.
Smokey and The Bandit was made with a budget of $4 million. It was was one of the most successful movies in Burt’s career, grossing $126 million. The film stared Sally Field, Jerry Reed, and Jackie Gleason among others. There were sequels in 1980 and 1983, though Reynolds had only a cameo in the third film.
