How To Fake A Full Night’s Sleep

We know that the experts say we should get eight hours of sleep a night to help recharge our brains, body, and spirits, but it’s not always that simple. We love to catch a long, solid sleep session as much as anyone, but busy schedules, anxiety, and New Year’s Eve parties cut into our snooze time and the next day we’re wearing the evidence of it with the dark circles under our eyes. And sometimes there’s not enough concealer in the world to hide them.

So the next time you find yourself looking more tired than you’d like after a long night without enough sleep, here are some natural remedies from skincare expert Kim Robinson. She says these hacks work wonders on dark circles under the eyes and the best part is you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry right now.

  • Extra-virgin coconut oil - This miracle oil is great at softening dry winter skin and it can also help reduce the appearance of dark circles. Just massage a little under your eyes a few times a day for a few weeks and you’ll see an improvement.
  • Cucumbers - It turns out cucumbers actually are good for your eyes. Stick some slices in the fridge for half an hour and cover your eyes with the chilled cukes for 10 minutes twice a day.
  • Tomato and lemon juice - Mix a teaspoon of fresh tomato juice with a half-teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and apply it under your eyes and let it sit for 10 minutes before washing it off. Use it twice a day for two to three weeks to fade those dark circles.
