We Are Skipping Work To Deal With "Workout Hangover"

We all know that working out is good for you, but sometimes it certainly doesn’t feel like it. Plenty of people have been left sore or injured after a day of exercise, and apparently it’s affecting the way people go about their lives.

A new study finds 29% of Americans have actually skipped work because they were suffering from a “workout hangover,” meaning they were too sore to participate in life and work activities. And that’s not all, 55% of folks say that hangover caused them to stay inside all day recovering.

Now while some of those hangovers could just be soreness, plenty of people have actually been injured exercising. In fact, 65% of Americans say they’ve been injured working out, suffering three injuries a year, on average. The most common exercise injury is a pulled muscle (68%), while other common injuries include:

  • Ankle sprain (48%)
  • Knee strain/injury (45%)
  • Wrist sprain (42%)
  • Tendinitis (24%)

All this soreness also forces folks to skip working out more, with people skip about 36 workouts a year due to a workout hangover.
