Study: Women Are No Better At Multitasking Than Men

Lots of women think of themselves as super-human multitaskers, but new research suggests they’re not any better at it than men. While women, especially those with kids, may be juggling housework, a job, cooking meals, and shuttling kids back and forth, a new study finds men are just as capable of multitasking as women.

For the study, German researchers compared how well 48 men and 48 women were able to pay attention to two tasks at the same time, while switching their attention between them. And it turns out, the fellas were just as good at it as the females. So men aren’t better at multitasking, but neither are women.

In fact, the study authors point out that multitasking in general makes us negatively affects both tasks we’re working on, so we don’t do either one as well as we would if we only focused on that one thing. But gender doesn’t have anything to do with it.
