A professional stuntman just gave a proposal that was straight fire … literally. Riky Ash, a U.K.-based stunt pro, asked his girlfriend to marry him while he was up in flames. He popped the question to his love, Katrina Dobson, who said “yes,” but only after her beau had been extinguished.
“I couldn’t see anything more impressive than proposing on fire,” Ash says of the daring move. He got some help and careful planning from his friends to surprise her with the blazing question. His wingmen included a cameraman, a producer and a safety crew, who he calls “my eyes and ears while I’m alight.” Before he was set on fire, Ash was doused with an accelerant to cause the “big woosh of flame” and he wore flame-protectant undergarments and a protective gel for his face, hair, hands and neck.
The crew was on hand with fire extinguishers and a wet towel to put the flames out, in case something went wrong. It all happened fast, with Ash quickly getting “Will you marry me Katrina Dobson?” out before the heat became too overwhelming. The bride-to-be loved the burning love tribute and says it was “the perfect proposal.”
