We just celebrated Earth Day last week, and it seems a lot of Americans are very concerned about what we are doing to the planet, especially when it comes to how it affects them. According to a survey conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Flonase:
- 74% of Americans say they are worried about climate change, with only 22% saying they don’t believe it’s real.
- 70% of people say climate change causes them stress.
- 81% say they are concerned how it will impact future generations.
- For those who are worried, their biggest concerns include:
- Rising temperatures (34%)
- Heatwaves (32%)
- Melting ice caps (30%)
- Floods (30%)
- Impact on physical health (29%)
- Impact on economy/society (29%)
- Wildfires (29%)
- Droughts (29%)
- Impact on mental health (28%)
- Rising sea levels (27%)
- For those concerned about climate change, 68% say it’s already taking a toll on their physical health, while 66% say it’s affecting their mental health.
- Health impacts people expect over the next 10 years include:
- Seasonal allergies (26%)
- Stress/anxiety (19%)
- Trouble sleeping (13%)
- Depression (12%)
- Migraines (11%)
- Asthma (9%)
- Eczema (8%)
