Get This: Men Prefer Women With Bad Grammar

Is bad grammar a turn off for you? New research finds spelling mistakes in dating app profiles are actually more attractive than well-written ones … but only for men. They seem to prefer women with bad grammar and spelling, according to a new study.

To come up with the findings, more than 12-thousand adults were shown dating profiles with and without errors, but using the same pictures in both. The results show:

  • More than half of both sexes say grammar is important, 63% of women and 53% of men.
  • But the study finds that male daters are 10% less likely to initiate a connection with a woman who has a bio free of typos and grammatical mistakes.
  • And on the flip side, female daters are over 300% more likely to go for a potential partner who doesn’t make any grammatical mistakes in their profile.
  • Women are also 39% more likely to connect with a man who has a good grasp of the English language.

So the question is: Do men feel intimidated by women with good grammar? Or do they think they have a better chance with poorly written profiles? Tina Wilson, relationship expert and founder of dating app Wingman, thinks there are two possibilities. The first is a red flag - that the man is insecure and he feels if the woman is more intelligent than he is, she’ll “feel superior” and is more likely to be the dominant partner. The other is that men see the errors as a sign women aren’t taking themselves too seriously, which may be an attractive trait.
