A Good Cup Of Coffee Can Turn the Worst Days Into Good Ones

For a lot of folks, their day doesn’t really begin until they’ve had a cup of coffee, but for others, it seems their love of the morning brew can be life-changing. According to a new survey, more than half of Americans feel that a good cup of coffee can be “so powerful,” it can turn their worst days into good ones.

But it goes both ways, as 31% of say their entire day can be ruined if their coffee isn’t right. And some people are so in sync with their coffee, they can immediately tell if they’ve been given the wrong order if it doesn’t taste right (25%) or look right (9%).

The survey of 2-thousand American coffee drinkers also reveals:

  • More than half (56%) of hot coffee drinkers like to keep things simple and fuss-free, while 51% of iced coffee drinkers would rather be in control of all aspects of their beverage, from the type of beans used to the brewing temperature and the method used.
  • For both hot and cold coffee fans, the “perfect” cup of coffee is a medium roast (52%), with a “bold, earthy and chocolatey” flavor profile (52%).
  • Iced coffee drinkers are more likely to use both sweeteners and creamers in their coffee than hot coffee fans (37% compared to 31%).
  • For fans of both hot and cold coffee, the best flavors for creamer and sweeteners are vanilla (52%), caramel (42%), hazelnut (41%) and white chocolate mocha (33%).
  • Popular dessert creamer flavors also include sweet cream (31%), pumpkin spice (27%), peppermint mocha (20%), cinnamon coffee cake (17%) and cookie dough (16%).
  • Where people get their coffee also makes a big difference, as 70% prefer to make their own at home, 12% prefer to get it at a coffee shop and 18% are fine with either, as long as they get their caffeine fix.
  • Surprisingly, one in five coffee drinkers even claim having fresh coffee is “better than sex.”
