As if dating isn’t challenging enough, now it seems your choice of phone could be causing problems in your love life. A recent survey finds that 22% of iPhone users admit they look down on those sending non-iMessage texts. Even worse? Nearly a quarter (23%) reveal that finding out a potential romantic interest is an Android user would be a total dealbreaker.
According to the poll of 1,000 adults:
- Some iPhone users seem to be pretty petty, including 31% of men who are ready to swipe left on an Android user and 16% of women who feel the same way.
- More than half (52%) of those with Androids have been made fun of for their phone and 36% report being judged harshly.
- While 26% admit to feeling embarrassed about their device, 30% have even contemplated switching to an iPhone to stop the teasing.
- It turns out, nearly everyone who has a smartphone (99%) is either team Android or team iPhone.
- To find common ground, 42% of all respondents are using third-party messaging apps like WhatsApp for judgment-free communication.
