Could you live on sandwiches alone for the rest of your life? Nearly half (46%) of Americans say they could, according to a new survey. Further proof that people in this country love sandwiches? They make up 30% of the average personâs diet.
In honor of National Sandwich Day, coming up on November 3rd, a new poll asks 2-thousand Americans all about their sandwich preferences and finds:
- The average person eats six sandwiches per week and it takes them 10 minutes, on average to put together the perfect sub.
- More than half (58%) of those surveyed say theyâre âsandwich pragmatistsâ who care more about making one fast than making it âjust right.â
- But the other 42% consider themselves âsandwich chefs,â as they like to take their time to assemble the perfect sammie. For these folks, itâs essential to have all the right ingredients, or theyâll be disappointed.
- So, what makes the ideal sandwich? It has to have high-quality meat (64%), airy bread (55%), all the right condiments (54%) and fresh veggies (40%).
- Three-quarters (74%) of respondents say they always keep the ingredients to make a quick sandwich on hand.
- When it comes to specific preferences, 68% like to toast the bread, while 19% cut the crust off.
- As for the way to cut it, 32% like theirs in rectangles, 35% go with triangles and 33% prefer their sandwiches whole and uncut.
- While they can be simple, some people like to upgrade their sandwich by adding chips for crunch or marinating the meat overnight.
