Louis Tomlinson just unveiled the title track from his forthcoming debut album, Walls.
On Friday (January 17), Tomlinson released his latest single âWalls,â an emotionally-charged and spirited song that speaks to the power of faith and overcoming what appears to be insurmountable obstacles. âThe day you walked away and took the higher ground/ Was the day that I became the man that I am now,â the former One Direction member sings in the opening verse, willing himself onto the greener side of a challenging relationship.
âBut these high walls, they came up short/ Now I stand taller than them all,â Tomlinson croons in the uplifting chorus, standing strong on his conviction. âThese high walls never broke my soul/ And I watched them all come falling down.â
In a statement to Press Party, the 28-year-old revealed how the song manifested following 1Dâs breakup. âItâs about coming home having been on tour, soon after the band had split,â he explained. âI found some of my girlfriendâs clothes in the cupboard and it hit me what Iâd done. I love the indie sound of the song and its circular nature â it opens and closes with the same lyric.â
âWallsâ appears on Tomlinsonâs 12-track debut album of the same name, arriving on January 31. Other tracks on the LP include previous singles âKill My Mind,ââWe Made Itâ and âDonât Let It Break Your Heart.â As previously announced, the âTwo of Usâ artist will set off on a tour this summer to promote the project.
