The Wienermobiles Are Hitting the Track Again

The Wienermobile race is back, and yes, it’s as ridiculous and amazing as it sounds.

If you missed it last year, Oscar Mayer rolled all six of its giant hot dog–shaped Wienermobiles onto the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and let them loose on the famous 2.5‑mile oval. It was goofy, it was chaotic, and fans absolutely loved it.

Now it’s coming back on May 22 during Carb Day, right before the Indy 500 weekend kicks into high gear.

What’s new this year? More toppings, more rivalries, and you get a vote.

Each Wienermobile runs as a regional “dog,” complete with custom decals and drivers suited up like full-on Hotdoggers.

Think of it like NASCAR, if NASCAR had more condiments.

Returning favorites include:

• Slaw Dog (Southeast champ and last year’s winner)
• Chi Dog (Midwest)
• New York Dog (East)
• Chili Dog (South)
• Seattle Dog (Northwest)

But here’s the twist: the sixth entry is up to fans.

Oscar Mayer is running a “Pick Your Dog” bracket on Instagram and TikTok, where people can vote from seven possible contenders. Yes, including the Sonoran Dog, which… didn’t exactly impress last year.

Why all the hype?

Last year’s race blew up online. Fans wanted another round, and Oscar Mayer is leaning all the way in. Expect louder rivalries, more fan interaction, and plenty of surprises.

Kelsey Rice from Oscar Mayer put it perfectly: fans were “hungry for more.” And honestly, who doesn’t want to watch oversized hot dogs drag race in public?

It’s silly. It’s fun. It’s perfect for Carb Day.
