Kids Are Still Not Getting Enough Playtime

Now that school’s out for the summer, parents are going to want to make sure their kids get outside and get some playtime, but as most parents know, that’s not always the easiest thing to do.

The CDC’s recommendation for the amount of daily physical activity kids should get is around 60 minutes, but a recent survey revealed that only one in three kids actually participate in daily active play.

As you can imagine, there are a lot of things that keep kids from getting enough time to play with the biggest distraction, according to parents, being technology, with 64% blaming things like TV, video games and other devices, a well as busy schedules for their kids not getting to play. Another big issue is money, with 55% of parents saying the cost of equipment and participation fees stop their children from getting the active time they need.
