We Are More Motivated Than Ever To Lose Weight & Get Healthy

It’s no secret that a lot of people have been going a little hard on the snacking and bad eating while under quarantine, but a new survey reveals folks seem ready to get back on track with their health.

A new survey by the free food-tracking app Lose It! finds:

  • 74% o Americans are more motivated than ever to reach their healthy weight goals.
  • 52% are more motivated to lose weight this summer than last summer. Maybe because they put on that Covid 19

But it turns out the main motivation for a lot of people isn’t necessarily looking better.

  • In fact, 64% say their motivation to lose weight is about feeling healthier and more confident.
  • Along those lines, compared to last summer:
  • 67% fewer respondents say they want to lose weight to look good for a special event or wedding.
  • 50% fewer want to take off the pounds to fit into a swimsuit
  • 43% fewer are doing it to be ready for a beach/summer vacation.

But staying healthy was easier for some generations than others.

  • Gen Z (51%) and Millennials (48%) were more motivated to lose weight in quarantine than those in Gen X (35%) and Baby Boomers (24%)
  • 50% of Gen Z and 43% of Millennials say it was easier to slim down during quarantine.
  • 75% of Gen Z and 76% of Millennials were more likely to exercise or stick with a weight loss regimen, as compared to 61% of Gen X and 41% of Baby Boomers.
