Majority Of Us Are Experiencing Tech Fatigue

These days it seems like we are all on our computers and devices more than ever before, thanks to remote working, zoom meetings and just plain entertainment. Well, apparently some folks have had enough.

A new survey finds:

  • 61% of Americans have experienced tech fatigue – defined as a feeling of exhaustion after using digital apps and tools - since lockdowns began.
  • Most folks say they began experiencing it about 12 weeks into the pandemic.
  • 53% say the feeling has been consistent.
  • 69% blame such fatigue on all the time they have to spend on video calls.
  • It’s not surprising that folks are experiencing such fatigue, since the average person has been spending two hours and four minutes more per day looking at their screens.

And all this fatigue is making some folks reconsider the time they spend in front of screens.

  • In fact, 52% of people are even interested in going off the grid.
  • Of those interested, most would like to be tech free for about eight hours a day.

But not everyone is a slave to their devices, with many people finding ways to unwind in order to maintain balance in their lives.

  • Ways they do it include:
    • Spend time with friends, family or loved ones (51%)
    • Exercise (41%)
    • Watch movies or TV (38%)
    • Spend time with their pet(s) (35%)
    • Eat (33%)
    • Meditate (30%)
    • Spend time on a hobby (30%)
    • Read books or magazines (29%)
    • Take health, wellness or fitness supplements (27%)
    • Sleep/nap (27%)
