We Are Planning To Take More Vacation Days In 2021

Last year wasn’t exactly a great year for travel thanks to the pandemic so it shouldn’t be much of a surprise to find out a lot of people didn’t exactly go on a lot of vacations. And according to a new survey, that just made Americans more determined to get away this year.

Expedia’s Vacation Deprivation Study finds:

  • 36% of Americans say they plan to resume taking their regular vacations this year.
  • 32% plan to take more than usual to make up for vacations they lost.
  • Americans actually plan to take an extra five days of vacation this year, for an average total of 13 days.

As for last year…

  • Out of 16 countries surveyed, Americans took the fewest number of vacation days last year, only eight. They also received the fewest days (13).
  • 64% of folks say 2020 left them feeling vacation deprived, 11% more than the year before.
  • 42% of people say they canceled at least on trip last year due to th pandemic.
  • 26% haven’t taken a vacation in over a year.
  • Last year’s lack of travel prompted 66% of people globally to create a travel bucket list.
