This Is How Many Pounds Of Laundry We Do A Week

One of the most hated chores out there is laundry, and it’s understandable, because according to a new survey, folks are forced to do a lot of it.

A new Whirlpool survey finds:

  • The average American does 2,184 pounds of laundry a year.
  • Just how much laundry is that? Well, it’s the equivalent of the weight of an adult black rhinoceros.
  • And that number’s particularly high because of kids.
  • The survey notes that the average kid will go through three outfits a day.

And kids are certainly the reason parents feel like they are constantly cleaning.

  • 72% of parents say their home can barely stay clean for more than a few minutes.
  • In fact, folks say their kids are so messy a room is only clutter free for about 17 minutes.
  • As for when kids are the messiest, the average parents say it is when their kids are seven.
  • On the positive side, they note that seven is the age kids are most likely to help clean up.
  • But when it comes to that laundry, good luck getting kids to help out.
  • The poll finds only 23% of kids are willing to help their parents with the laundry.
