The Wall Street Journal reports that companies are working on using holograms to help bring flat, two-dimensional video chats to life. Proponents of the technology say that three-dimensional representations make it easier to read body language and feel more personal than traditional phone and video calls.
One research analyst speculates the holograms will be used for recorded events, trainings and seminars, but likely won’t replace the average meeting.
