What Are Our Worst Food Habits?

We all eat, and most of us will eat with other people around us, but apparently we don’t necessarily enjoy that company. That’s because a lot of people have some bad eating habits, and for some they are simply unacceptable.

A new survey finds:

  • Bad eating habits are so unacceptable that 60% of Americans would end a date or break up with someone if they had a food habit they found annoying.
  • That’s true for 42% of men and only 25% of women.
  • Interestingly though, men are more likely to admit they are guilty of the same bad food habits.
  • Overall, the most unacceptable food habit for people is talking with your mouth full.
  • 68% of people say it’s the worst food sin, although 28% admit they are guilty of it.
  • Other annoying eating habits include:
    • Chewing loudly (64%)
    • Open-mouth chewing (63%)
    • Slurping food (52%)
    • Double dipping (44%)

As for how most people handle such food offenses

  • Gen-Z is apparently the most tolerant, with 73% saying they’d just ignore the annoying habit.
  • Millennials though aren’t so tolerant, with 61% saying they’d ask the person to stop.
  • 48% of Millennials also say they’d end a date or relationship over such an offense.
