Many Americans, especially Verizon customers, have been receiving spam texts from their own phone numbers lately.
Somehow, scammers have even managed to bypass Apple's iMessage feature with these texts.
Whatever you do, don't click any links from the text, or you could be a victim of "smishing" where crooks send fraudulent messages trying to get your personal info. You can report the texts if you have Verizon by copying the message and forwarding it to SPAM (7726) or report it as junk or spam via the messaging app you use. You're also asked to report these scam messages to the FCC.
