When Is the Best Time To Leave A New Year’s Eve Party?

Lots of people will be ringing in the New Year at a party this year and new research suggests the ideal time to make your exit. A survey of 2-thousand adults looks into their plans for New Year’s Eve and finds more than half (52%) say you should leave within an hour after the ball drops at midnight.

The poll also reveals:

  • About half of respondents also feel that staying too late is rude (48%), while 45% say leaving before midnight is equally rude.
  • Nearly a third (29%) plan to host a New Year’s Eve party this year and those who usually host invite an average of 19 guests. But this year, 71% of those regular hosts say they plan to invite more guests than usual.
  • Being a good guest at a New Year’s Eve bash means not showing up empty-handed, with more than half of respondents saying people should bring a bottle of wine or alcohol (58%) or a dessert (48%) for the host to put out.
  • Party essentials include food/snacks (84%), music (76%), and cocktails/drinks (67%), according to those surveyed.
  • Just over half (55%) agree that New Year’s Eve is the one night of the year that no one should be alone.
  • The night is a special one for many respondents, including the six in 10 who’ve made a friend or met a partner at a New Year’s Eve party.
  • And most respondents have a positive outlook for the future, with 57% saying next year will be better than this year.
