Foods People Like To Eat In Bed & Some That Are Off-Limits

A lot of people like to eat in bed, but some foods are just too gross to be allowed, new research shows. A survey of 2-thousand Americans finds that two-thirds are fine with food being eaten in bed and 47% have enjoyed snacks or meals in their own bed, but it’s a hard no for 34%.

The poll about bedroom eating habits reveals:

  • The majority of respondents are on board with breakfast in bed, with 69% planning to make it for Valentine’s Day and 16% hoping it’s made for them.
  • More than half (52%) admit they can’t fully enjoy eating in bed because they’re too worried about the mess and 26% think it’s lazy, while 44% argue that food in bed is romantic.
  • It takes couples an average of seven weeks together before they start eating in the bedroom.
  • But the habit does have its downsides, as 72% confess they’ve had to get rid of bedding as a result of food spilling and 49% have asked someone to get out of their bed because they got crumbs in it.
  • Overall, people feel breakfast is the best meal to be eaten in bed. Other times people are most likely to eat in bed are when watching TV (66%), on weekends (54%) or on a date (52%).
  • Nearly three-quarters (74%) admit they’re more laid back about eating in bed if it’s someone else’s bed.
  • The top foods folks like to eat in bed include fruit, chocolate, yogurt, ice cream, pizza and burgers.
  • And the foods people ban from being eaten in bed because they’re too messy are soup, pasta with sauce, stir fry, curry, tacos and ramen.
