We all know that playing and winning the lottery is all chance. You can, though, up your chances of winning by living in certain states. A new study shows that California is the place to be if you want a jackpot. The Golden State has the highest total jackpot winnings with $7.7 billion dollars since 2012.
New York and New Jersey round out the top three. California also grabs the top spot with most wins in the Mega Millions and Powerball lotteries with 27.
When it comes to the unluckiest states, the South and Idaho, North Dakota, Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming, and New Mexico aren’t the places to play the lottery. They’ve come up empty for 10 years. Maine was also in a drought but broke it in January.
