- They compared all 50 states in 20 key metrics related to nursing jobs and opportunities, including monthly average starting salary, annual salary, healthcare facilities per capita, quality of nursing schools and mandatory overtime restrictions.
- Washington has been named the best state for nurses overall, coming in third for opportunity and competition and seventh for work environment.
- New Mexico, which is third overall, is first in opportunity and competition, while Oregon, fourth overall, is number one for work environment.
- On the flip side, Hawaii lands at number 50, making it the worst state for nurses in 2023.
