Kenny Chesney and Kelsea Ballerini have been getting close as tourmates and friends as they've been criss-crossing the states on Kenny's "I Go Back" tour. In Lincoln, Nebraska last week, Kenny came up with an interesting challenge for the young singer: jump in a tub of ice. Kelsea, it seems, had never taken an ice-bath, something Kenny and his bandmates do on the regular.
Before agreeing to jump in the tub, Kelsea offered up a deal: she'd take the icy plunge, if Kenny would join her on stage that night for a shot during their duet on "You & Tequila." Sounded like a good deal, right? Except as Kenny informed her, the song wasn't on the setlist that night. Loophole!
However, following the show on May 13, Kenny's "No Shoes Radio" took to social media to share a clip of Ballerini explaining the challenge she had proposed to Chesney earlier in the day. Then, it was revealed that “You and Tequila” ended up making its way into the show, therefore leaving Chesney to hold up his end of the deal. The caption read, "@kelseaballerini said she’d do the ice tub if @kennychesney did a shot of tequila on stage during “You and Tequila”. This song got added to the set list last minute and we had the shots ready to go! 😂🏴☠️🧡"
Kelsea did her part, so Kenny did his. That night, two black solo cups were brought out on stage and handed to the country stars. "And now it’s your turn, Kenny Chesney," Ballerini said before clinking their plastic cups.
