Guys, if you’re looking for a hookup, it’s probably a good idea to hit the gym. Research from the University of Arkansas reveals women prefer their dudes more muscular for flings and short-term romances.
Study authors talked to 384 women about their thoughts on dating and showed them two photos - one of a big, beefy man and one of a scrawnier-looking fella. And most of the female participants agreed the muscly man was more attractive for a frisky encounter, but looks didn’t matter as much when it comes to finding a spouse or life partner. Lead researcher Professor Mitch Brown says women associate muscles with being fit and healthy, but what they want long-term is someone who’s kind and will support his family.
After interviewing the women in the study, researchers conclude that humor helps guys build strong and substantial relationships, as long as the jokes aren’t made at the woman’s expense. Brown explains, “Nice guys who make friendly jokes can actually finish first when it comes to attracting a woman looking for a long-term relationship.”
