Happy Leap Year Day, What You Didn’t Know

Today is February 29th, a day we only get once every four years. It’s there to keep the calendar in sync with the seasons. If we didn’t add the extra day every four years, and you lived to be 90 would see your birthday drift by three weeks over the course of your lifetime.

Some things to know about Leap Year and Leap Day!

  • Every 4 years we add an extra day to February
  • There is a whole lot of science and math for why we alter our calendars
  • We have leap years because the length of the day and the length of the year are not equal to each other.
  • The time is takes the earth to move around the sun is 365 days, 6 hours and 9 minutes,
  • Without the leap year, our seasons would get off over time.
