Dog Owners’ Biggest “Pet” Peeves

There’s no doubt that dogs add a lot of happiness to their humans’ lives, but owning a dog does come with some challenges and inconveniences. And new research reveals some of the biggest ones.

Forbes Advisor recently surveyed 10-thousand dog owners across the country, 200 from each state.

  • They found that the top annoyance overall is having to find a dog sitter when going out of town.
  • Having to walk/exercise the dog
  • Excessive shedding
  • When the dog jumps on them or others

The Top 10 “Pet” Peeves of Dog Owners in the U.S.

  1. Having to find a pet sitter when they go out of town and can’t bring their dog along (37%)
  2. Having to find dog-friendly hotels while on vacation (24%)
  3. Having to walk/exercise the dog, go to the dog park, play fetch, etc. (23%)
  4. The expense of owning a dog (23%)
  5. Excessive barking (20%)
  6. Excessive shedding (17%)
  7. Having to pick up the dog’s poop (15%)
  8. Having to take the dog to the vet (13%)
  9. When the dog gets the house or furniture dirty (11%)
  10. When the dog jumps on them or others (10%)
