St. Patty’s Day Beer Myths That Are NOT True

A lot of beer will be consumed today, which means a lot of longstanding beer myths will come into play. Here are some of the most common myths that aren't actually true, according to The Daily Meal.

  • Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, you're in the clear. The order doesn't matter. It's how much alcohol you're consuming is what factors into how sick you'll get.
  • Darker beers are healthier. Although they're higher in antioxidants, they also contain more of the chemicals that could cause a really bad hangover.
  • Drinking light beer is healthier. It has fewer calories and is less filling, but it may cause you to want to drink more or it.
  • Drinking too much beer causes a beer belly. Beer actually does not add fat to your belly.
  • Bottled beer is better than canned. Cans provide a better airtight seal and also keep the light out.
  • Draft is always better than bottled. Just because it's draft doesn't mean it's as fresh as what's in the bottle.
  • Beer is best served cold. Too cold and it could dampen the taste.
